Past News
2007 News:
July 16: We have exempted a part of Rule 3 since it is the Championship games and all were very close in score. In the event games are playable tonight, the games will start exactly where they left off. This is in effect for all three divisions--Pony, Minor, and Majors. The Pony and Major Leagues are in their Championship Games, and Minors are in their quarter-finals.
The other variables of a delayed game are:
- Players returning from vacation and will be able to make the delayed game, but were not on the batting order at the start of the game--
- A. The new players may be added to the end of the batting order, just as if they were late for a regular game.
- Players who started the game but cannot attend the delayed game--
- A. The players are removed from the batting order with no penalty, the same as an injury removal.
June 15: A rules clarification for Minor League batter runner attempting to advance to 2B on a base on balls (walk). The rule is as follows:
The ball is still live after the fourth ball, therefore the batter runner may attempt to advance from 1st to 2nd in one fluid motion at risk of being put out. If there is then a play to attempt to put out the batter runner advancing to 2nd, a runner at 3rd may also attmpt to advance, also at risk of being put out. The batter runner may not attempt to advance if there is a timeout called or if the pitcher has positioned himself to a batter (Rule 25).
April 15: There has been a change to Rule 21 of the Marion Boys Baseball Rules. The revision is as follows:
Coaches for each team in a given game are allowed only 3 defensive timeouts per game. On the second trip to the mound in the same inning that pitcher must be removed and a new pitcher brought in. If a defensive timeout is called after a team has already used up their 3 defensive timeouts in a game then the pitcher must be replaced with a new pitcher. An injured defensive player on the field or the substitution of a defensive player by a coach from the dugout area does not count towards a team's number of defensive timouts in a game.
